My Brief Book Reviews

I have completely read these books and so I think that they are really good - unless I have made comments otherwise. (Other opinions may vary!)

Madame Bovary

Gustave Flaubert (Joan Charles translation)

Loved the book. Hard to put down. Beautiful rich language. Unfortunately after the climax, Flaubert didn't wrap it up very well. Even though he still used the language very well, a lot of the paragraphs could have just as easily been thrown out.

It Seemed Like A Good Idea....

A Compendium of Great Historical Fiascoes

by William Forstchen and Bill Fawcett

It seemed like a good idea at the time and ended up being more or less disastrous. Unfortunately, most the very short pieces - 2-4 pages - are about battles and wars.
A quick read, easy to pick up and put down.
