My Brief Book Reviews

I have completely read these books and so I think that they are really good - unless I have made comments otherwise. (Other opinions may vary!)

The Bookseller of Kabul

by Asne Seierstad

A Norwegian woman moves in with a "liberal" well-to-do bookseller and his family (and his wives.) It's a very interesting account of what it is like to live in Kabul, Afganistan following the end of the Taliban regime in late 2001. She lived with the family for three months. I would recommend everybody read this.

Driving Mr. Albert

A Trip Across America With Einstein's Brain

by Michael Paterniti

A guy offers to drive the pathologist who did the autopsy of Albert Einstein across the country to give the brain to Einstein's grand-daughter. It's somewhat interesting. It did kind of drag in the sense that the author talked about his relationship with his girlfriend - it added nothing to the book - throughout the cross-country trip but fortunately, they were only small bits. I did like the nice "twist" at the end of the book. The story is also about Dr. Harvey who possessed
the brain and the history behind it.
