Sacred Monsters, Sacred Masters

by John Richardson

A series of short essays about "artists, writers, tastemakers, and tycoons" mostly describing their dark sides.

Some of them were about Salvador Dali's partner Gala, Dr. Barnes, other art critics, sons, and partners of Kandinsky, Pierre Bonnard, Armand Hammer, Truman Capote, Judy Chicago.

The Lost Painting

The Quest for a Caravaggio Masterpiece

by Jonathan Harr

Overall great read. It was hard for me to put down. I always wanted to know what happened next.

[Though I don't understand why the author had to put any info about Francesca's (one of the principle characters) love life in there. Also in the first half of the book, he sometimes gets a little too flowery and too detailed in his descriptions - why describe the look of a meal someone is sitting down to eat?]
