My Brief Book Reviews

I have completely read these books and so I think that they are really good - unless I have made comments otherwise. (Other opinions may vary!)

The Last Days of The New Yorker

by Gigi Mahon

The New Yorker was more or less a "family run" operation from when it was founded in the 20's until it was bought in 1983 by Conde Naste Publications (who still own it.) This book (written in the mid-80's) was about the history of the magazine and why it was sold and how many people didn't like the fact that it was being sold to a large conglomerate which would most likely kill its soul. I've never read an early New Yorker so I can't say if it made a difference.
